Jon A. Shirley (born 1938) is the former president of Microsoft and one of its directors until 2008. He was born in San Diego, California in 1938, later attending The Hill School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Shirley worked at Tandy Corporation for 25 years, before being appointed to the positions of president, chief operating officer, and director of Microsoft in 1983.[1] He was later mentioned in press accounts for refusing to upgrade his second computer to Windows Vista after upgrading his first.[2][3]

He and his wife are also collectors of Alexander Calder. Their collection is now on view at the Seattle Art Museum.
