Harry Shum (Heung-Yeung Shum) is a computer scientist for Microsoft Corporation who received his Ph.D. in robotics from the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. He joined Microsoft Research in Redmond, Washington, and then moved to Microsoft Research China (later renamed Microsoft Research Asia) when it was founded in 1998. In 2004, he became the Managing Director of Microsoft Research Asia. In 2007, he was promoted to Corporate Vice President, and took in charge of search product development at Microsoft, now known as Bing.
