Halo 3 is a 2007 first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie for the Xbox 360 console. It is the third game in the series and concludes the story arc begun in Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001 and continued in Halo 2 in 2004.
The game begins a few days after the end of the events narrated in the last chapter of the saga, Halo 2, and after those cartoon Halo: Uprising: the Arbiter, Johnson and Miranda are back on Earth, and among the elite and the UNSC is established an alliance designed to stop the Covenant, who are attacking our planet to unearth an ancient Forerunner artifact, while Master Chief, failing to take control of the Dreadnought ship on which he was the Prophet of Truth, comes back on our planet by jumping from the ship itself. The game is divided into 10 chapters.
Halo 3 is a shooter game in which the first players to experience the game from a first person perspective. Much of the game takes place on foot, but also includes segments that focus on vehicular combat. The balance of weapons and items in the game has been adjusted to better adhere to the "Halo Golden Triangle": these are the weapons, grenades and melee attacks, which are available to a player in most situations. Players can dual-wield some weapons, renouncing the use of grenades and melee attacks in favor of the combined firepower of two weapons. Many weapons available in previous installments of the series return with minor cosmetic alterations and power. Unlike previous installments, the player's secondary weapon is visible on their player model, holstered or slung over the back of the player.
