ActiveSync is a protocol for synchronizing mobile devices created by Microsoft in 1996.

The protocol is used to synchronize mobile devices using Windows Mobile, Windows CE, Palm OS, Symbian, iOS, and Android operating systems.

The latest current version of the protocol is Exchange ActiveSync 14.1 deployed with Exchange Server 2010 SP1.

Microsoft also uses the ActiveSync name for push emails that use Microsoft Exchange Server.
